The Karynzharyk Depression, located near the city of Zhanaozen, attracts a significant number of tourists each year. One of the unique features of this depression is its challenging accessibility, which makes it a favorite destination for those who enjoy "wild tourism." The beauty of this place is sure to captivate everyone, with its unusual landscapes that take your breath away. Here, clay and sand are replaced by salt flats, a rare phenomenon. Mangystau is truly a jewel of Kazakhstan, hiding numerous places of extraordinary beauty.

Karynzharyk is no exception in this regard, as being here can make you feel as though you've left Earth entirely. The natural beauty creates a sensation that you’ve stepped onto another planet.

The main attraction of Karynzharyk is the "Three Batyrs" mountains, which can be viewed from the edges of the depression. This site is stunning at any time of day, as the towering mountains always present a different appearance depending on the sun, clouds, and rain. The Karynzharyk Depression is part of the Ustyurt Nature Reserve, and as such, it is under special state protection. This is due to the large number of rare flora and fauna in the area. The depression stretches 85 kilometers from east to west. During rains, the plains at the foot of the mountains are covered with a thin layer of water, making Karynzharyk extraordinarily beautiful.

In this remote area, rarely touched by human feet, mouflons thrive. Karynzharyk is an ideal habitat for their comfortable existence. Unlike other locations in the area, you cannot take photographs at the foot of the Karynzharyk mountains. There are good reasons for this, such as the fact that the depression lies 75 meters below sea level, while the height of the "Three Batyrs" reaches 300 meters. Despite this, the site remains a favorite among tourists; even from the edges of the depression, one can feel a deep connection with nature. Videos of Karynzharyk can be found online, showcasing views from the edges, the mountain foothills, and aerial perspectives—truly impressive footage. However, the beauty of the Ustyurt Nature Reserve’s depression is best experienced in person. Even seasoned travelers return to this place time and time again.

At the bottom of Karynzharyk lies the Kendirli Sor (salt flat). In summer, you might see a cracked salt crust, but at other times of the year, the salt lake reflects the image of Karynzharyk. This site is stunning from any angle. If you love natural landscapes and enjoy solitude in nature, then Karynzharyk is the perfect destination. You can reach it by private transport, or you may consider organizing a tour through a travel company. We wish you a wonderful journey filled with unforgettable impressions!
